hey there…

We are Cerra- a small batch ceramics studio located in the Pacific Northwest, a little North of Portland, and a little more South of Seattle, where the pace of life is influenced as much by the weather as it is by routine.

It started simply- two people making things together, one passionate about clay, and the other a passion for beautiful objects and designs.

Cerra was not born with a clear idea of a brand. It began with pottery on the weekends, experiments at the wheel, and glaze tests that didn’t always work. The objects created were always kept, because they felt good in the hand even if they weren’t perfect.

Over time, making became another way to spend time together that felt both practical and necessary. It began to fold into our everyday life- after little league games, before school drop-offs, and the quiet hours at home after the day is done.

We are parents to two children, and that has shaped how we think about everything… it keeps us in a constant state of evolution. We are more aware of the air, material and objects that we bring into our home, but we aren’t perfect, and we are not trying to make perfect objects, either. We are trying to make honest ones.

We are not removed from what we make. We are in it- working, raising children, learning and adjusting all the time, and emphasizing the importance of what we experience together. We are intentionally not on social media. Maybe one day… But for now, Cerra exists here, through the pieces we create, and through direct connection.

Cerra is a practice of making, intentional living, and paying attention to what we bring into the world, and the impacts we make. Cerra is what is built when making and living are not separate things.
